DIVE EXCURSIONS

Current Dive Excursions July – Sept 2020

At Ancora, we believe that our concept of a dive excursion is what may very well separate us from the hundreds of dive charters and scuba shacks around the world. We call no site home and make each dive our own. We have no intention of spending our entire trip below the surface of the sea and missing out on the local culture and excitement that awaits onshore. We want to experience all our planet has to offer– Wet, dry or otherwise. Come along!

Each of these trips are customizable and can be extended or amended based on your preferences. We offer the basic framework for a great dive experience, and are willing and able to help you build out your dream trip from there! We handle most of the logistics, so all you’ll have to do is show up! Call or email today for more information or to reserve a space.

Catalina Island
California, USA

The cool waters of the North Pacific are calling! A quick boat trip from Long Beach, Catalina Island has been known as Hollywood’s playground for decades. Just off the coast, though, over a few jagged cliffs and rocky slopes hide some of the world’s most beautiful and healthy kelp forests. You’ll meet score of Garibalidi fish, a few eagle rays, and maybe even a playful sea lion. We include one overnight onboard our favorite local dive charter, one night on Catalina Island, and as many as two nights in Los Angeles. We’ll even offer a tour of Hollywood and show off some of our favorite spots! Surf lessons in Huntington Beach? Sure. Venice Boardwalk? Why not? Let’s do it all! You can expect up to six dives, but it’s all at your pace! See ya on the left coast!

Great Blue Hole
Placencia, Belize

We’ll meet up at the Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort, just north of Placencia Village on the Placencia Peninsula. We’ll take the first evening to rest up and enjoy some incredible local cuisine at the famous Maya Bistro. The following morning we’ll head out to Lighthouse Reef for a few tropical reef dives. By afternoon, we’ll be on the Blue Hole, exploring one of Earth’s great mysteries. For centuries, locals and foreign adventurers alike have struggled to grasp the true depth of this natural wonder. Underwater navigators, geologists, and naturalists still have no definitive answers regarding the actual depth of the Blue Hole, but you can count on excellent visibility (typically 70ft+), warm water, and plenty of friendly local marine life to greet us upon descent. Maya Resort will be our home base as we explore the island through dives, hikes, village treks and homecooked meals. All divers must hold at least an Advanced Open Water rating to join us on this expedition.

Drift Diving
Florida, USA

South Beach? Check. Wynwood Arts and Design District? No doubt. Absolute luxury in West Palm Beach? Sorta! We’ll meet you in Miami and check out Little Havana by day and Wynwood by night. If opting-out of either in favor of the beach better suits your fancy, then by all means, go for it. After a full day in Miami, we’ll drive up the coast to West Palm Beach, the capital of American drift diving. The Gulf Stream usually runs so smoothly here that you could probably get away with forgetting your fins at home! As we glide along the state-protected coral reef system, you’ll likely come across manta rays, nurse sharks, parrotfish, goliath groupers, three different species of sea turtles, and the occasional human-friendly barracuda. By night, we’ll enjoy tea and coffee at one of the new West Palm art galleries before heading to The Breakers Resort for a fashionable dessert. That’s right, you’ll eat your ice cream like a Kennedy after a full day of diving. This is the original Ancora trip, and one that divers of all skill levels will enjoy and remember forever.
